Taking photos of artwork has always been a challenge. Shadows seem to be everywhere. So I decided to 1) get a decent camera, and 2) learn how to use it correctly.
I attended a weeklong workshop in digital photography help through the Southeast Federation of Gem and Mineral Societies held at Wildacres, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. It was a class designed to teach us how to take photos of three dimensional work, especially jewelry, and to learn the techniques of lighting.
Hundreds and hundreds of exposures later, I still can't get it the lighting perfect but its better hyan it was, and that is success in my book.
